
Now the villagers in South 24 Parganas will not have to stand in the long cues for getting their kerosene rationed, or cough away while cooking their meals. Thanks to Vivekananda Shakti Kendra, they can now invest the same amount on Solar LED lights and improved cooking chulahs, Solar cookers and biogas and other such products aimed at providing sustainable renewable energy solutions to the villagers.
Vivekananda Sevakendra –O- Shishu Udhyan (VSSU), in collaboration with ONergy, inaugurated Vivekananda Shakti Kendra (VSK), the first renewable energy center of its kind, in Lakshmikantapur yesterday. Mr. Sushobhan Bhattacharya, Director in-Charge West, Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Speaking at the inauguration, Bhattacharya said, “ The Team at Vivekananda Shakti Kendra is extremely passionate and committed and have a vision to bring about change. These are the kind of people we require to spread renewable energy and we are wiling to give our full support.”
Different products like – Solar LED Lamps, home lighting systems, biomass gassifiers, Biogas, Solar Cookers and improved stoves and chulahs will be available at VSK and through a network of entrepreneurs and NGO’s across south 24 parganas at cost affective prices that the villagers can afford and pay over a period of time through micro-credit.
The centre will also take up projects in clusters by electrifying villages, making villages smokeless and eliminating kerosene from villages by lighting projects.
